ELSA will provide fika while giving a short presentation about the association. Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in various activities, including a giveaway of a law book for members, a quiz with a goodie bag as the prize, and mingling.

Kick off the semester by meeting new people! 🗣️ 2/9 Debate with the news magazine FOKUS
The news magazine Fokus and SUS invite you to an election debate on student conditions and Sweden’s academic environment. Representatives from various political parties will meet to discuss student finances and housing, the labour market for recent graduates, and the impact of migration policy on international students, doctoral students and researchers. The debate will be moderated by political journalist and political scientist Cecilia Garme.

ESN is having “Stockholm for dummies”, an introduction to Stockholm student life! You're new to Stockholm and wondering how life here works and what ESN does? We will tell you everything you need to know: Where to get groceries, how public transportation works, where to find bars that don't make you instantly broke, and of course what ESN is and how we help you to have your best time in Sweden! You will also have the opportunity to pick your ESNcard!

As part of the SUS kickoff week, you’re invited to try Swedish folk dancing with STUNS! With live music and guidance from dance teacher Leonora Danzi, they’ll explore the wonderfully festive world of folk dance, with all the chaos and fun that comes with it. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of previous experience. See you there!

🎲 4/9 Board games with Brädspelsföreningen
Brädspelsföreningen is a student association that meets a couple of times each month to play board games. They play both casual and more advanced games, depending on the interests of those who attend. No prior experience is required, and all students at Stockholm University are welcome!

🥐 7/9 Cinnamon and cardamom rolls with PBC SU
Want to kick off the term with some useful skills and tasty treats? Come and learn how to make traditional Swedish cinnamon and cardamom rolls with Plant Based Campus. The best part? They are completely plant based, on a budget, and definitely better than those store bought ones.
Learn how to knead the dough, shape the rolls, bake them and eat them all together! We will also have some tea and coffee to make it more fika like. Unfortunately, Gluten free options won't be possible for this event.

🎤 9/9 Debate with Stockholm Debate Society
Stockholm Debate Society is planning an introductory meeting meant to show potential new members what British Parliamentary debating is all about. This meeting will consist of a workshop about the basics of debating given by our experienced members who have been debating for years.
Afterwards fika and drinks will be provided, giving the participants the chance to ask any burning questions and socialise amongst themselves. Lastly, the meeting will conclude with a show debate on a casual easily accessible topic. Audience participation will be heavily encouraged, as there is no better way to learn how to debate than to jump right in.

🚀 10/9 Make the Most of Your Student Years with Drivhuset
University (done right) is about so much more than lectures and exams. This interactive workshop will help you with practical tips and tools to build connections, discover opportunities and make the most of your student years.
Together with Drivhuset you will explore how to find communities and opportunities beyond the classroom, build your network without it feeling awkward, increase your chances of landing part-time jobs, internships and other opportunities, introduce yourself and meet others with confidence through a fun, interactive exercise.

Join Stockholm Academics for Palestine for a movie screening of the documentary: ”Five Broken Cameras”, a first-hand account of resistance against Israeli settlements in a village in the West Bank, beginning in 2005. No need to sign up, just show up! We hope to see you there!

As a member of Stockholm University Student Union (SUS), you will have a more fun university experience! You get member discounts on literature, food, sport activities and much more outside of campus. To top it off, you receive the opportunity to place yourself in the student housing queue via SSSB. You can also become a paid SUS representative. If you get into conflicts with the University, our ombuds are here to give you support and guidance.
As a member of SUS, you can also add an extra membership in one of SUS’s collaborative associations: The Social Sciences Association, the Natural Sciences Faculty Club, the Humanities Faculty Club, the Sociology Students’ Faculty Association or the Teacher Students’ Association. The associations arrange student pubs with free entrance for members, and many other fun activities.
