SUS Honorary Medal 2025 awarded to Maria Lunusjkin

The SUS Honorary Medal is awarded to people who have made significant contributions to student influence and/or student life at Stockholm University. The Honorary Medal is being awarded for the third year at the Lucia Ball and this year it is being awarded to a person who, through extraordinary commitment, has worked to make life at Stockholm University better - during their time as a student and after.

Life as a student is not always easy and an important part of strengthening the situation for other students is through commitment. The person who is awarded this year's prize has done just that, then and now. Continuing their commitment after their time at SU is something that few do, but something that distinguishes this year's recipient extra.

It is through one of our partner associations that this year's recipient began her commitment, which soon continued under SUS's own auspices. Getting involved in SUS partner associations is an important way to strengthen SUS.

The recipient has brilliantly led the Student Union Elections as well as the Lucia Ball, the after-party for the Nobel and also assumed the role of chairman of the election committee. In her role as the Master of Ceremonies, the recipient led SUS through several years of Nobel celebrations and conferrals, organized alumni activities and supported both the SUS Presidium and other associations in important issues. The commitment goes far beyond what one can expect from a student.

We remain grateful that today, over five years after graduation, the recipient continues to help strengthen SUS through her involvement in the Association of Students’ Nobel Night Cap.

This year’s Honorary Medal is awarded to a person who has always been driven by the desire to make the campus better for others, regardless of the role she has taken on. She has done so with a power and energy that is difficult to match. This year’s Honorary Medal is awarded to, as we know her, Maria Lunusjkin, or now Maria Edsman.
