Membership conditions
General membership conditions for Stockholm University’s Student Union
This membership agreement applies between you as an individual and Stockholm University Student Union (802003-6425), below indicated as SUS. By becoming a member, you agree to these membership terms and conditions, which may be updated.
Membership
If you study within SUS' area of operation at Stockholm University (according to the Student Union Ordinance (2009:769) § 4), you have the right to become a full member. During the time period 2022–2025 (the current union status period), this means that all students at Stockholm University have the right to become full members.
When you sign up for membership, you become a member for the membership period you select. You become a support member until it is verified that you are registered for a course within SUS' area of operation at Stockholm University. Once verification is complete, the support membership turns into a full membership for the selected membership period. If the verification is not successful, you remain a support member during the same period.
As a support member, you support SUS' operations but do not get membership benefits. To get membership benefits directly via SUS or via SUS' partners, you must have a full membership in SUS.
Membership in any of SUS' cooperation associations can be changed to one of the other cooperation associations once per semester. If you want to sign up for membership in more than one cooperation association, this requires payment of an additional membership fee. To get a certificate of extra membership, contact the union office at info@sus.se.
When you have completed your studies at Stockholm University, you do not need to notify SUS of this. After completing your studies, you can become a support member of SUS, which means that you continue supporting SUS' activities even though you are no longer studying at Stockholm University.
Payment
Membership in SUS is personal. Paid membership fees are not refunded. Please contact the SUS student union office at info@sus.se if you have questions regarding your payment.
Membership card
Your membership card serves as student identification and as proof of full membership. You can find your membership card in the Studentkortet app after you have paid your membership fee.
How we process your personal data
When you become a member of SUS, SUS will process your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.
By signing up for membership, you agree that your data may be disclosed to relevant partners and authorities. We disclose this information in order to provide you with relevant membership benefits, such as the opportunity to queue in SSSB’s housing queue or take advantage of SUS' membership card and discounts via Studentkortet (STUK).
In order to be able to ensure reactivation of your membership in the event that you take a break from your studies, your personal data is stored for 5 years after your membership has ended with us. In order for us to be able to store your personal data after your membership has ended, you must consent to such processing.
Contract period and termination of membership
These terms and conditions come into force when you register as a member and apply indefinitely.
If a full member no longer meets the requirements for membership, the membership ends automatically. A member whose membership has automatically ended can, if so regulated, automatically be switched to a support membership.
In accordance with § 9 Suspension and exclusion in the SUS statutes, a member who does not observe their obligations towards SUS or who has obviously damaged SUS, its activities, its interests or no longer meets the requirements for membership can be excluded by the student union board.
A member who has obtained membership through submitting knowingly incorrect information or who knowingly counteracts SUS' purpose may be excluded.
Decisions on suspension or exclusion are made by a qualified majority of the student union board. Suspension or exclusion may not happen until the member has been given the opportunity to submit their opinion to the student union board.
